D. Keith Grossman, , , , Chairman, CEO & President

D. Keith Grossman was named CEO and President of Nevro in March of 2019. Mr. Grossman has over 30 years of experience in the medical device field. He served most recently, and for the second time, as the President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Thoratec Corporation, leading up to its 2015 sale to St. Jude Medical. Prior to Thoratec, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Conceptus, a women’s health medical device company, leading up to its sale to Bayer Healthcare. Prior to Conceptus, Mr. Grossman served as managing director of TPG (Texas Pacific Group), a private equity firm, as a member of its healthcare investment team. Prior to TPG, Mr. Grossman served as Thoratec’s President, Chief Executive Officer and director for the first ten years of its growth as a commercial company. Mr. Grossman currently serves as Vice Chairman of Alcon, Inc., Chairman of Outset Medical, Inc. (privately held), and Board member of ViewRay, Inc. and previously served as a member of the Board of directors of Intuitive Surgical, Inc., Kyphon, Inc., and a number of privately held medical device companies. Mr. Grossman received a B.S. in life sciences from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Andrew Galligan , , , Chief Financial Officer

Andrew Galligan joined Nevro in 2010 and is Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Prior to joining Nevro, Mr. Galligan held the same position at OOMA, a consumer electronics manufacturer and VOIP service provider. Prior to that, Mr. Galligan was Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Reliant Technologies, a pioneer of fractional resurfacing skin treatments with aesthetic lasers. Mr. Galligan has also held the top financial executive position at several other medical device companies bringing to Nevro many years of experience in the commercialization of innovative medical therapeutic and diagnostic technologies. Mr. Galligan began his career in various financial positions at KPMG, and Raychem. Mr. Galligan received his degree in Business Studies from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

David Caraway, MD, PhD , , , Chief Medical Officer

David Caraway, MD, PhD joined Nevro in 2014 and serves as Nevro’s Chief Medical Officer. Prior to joining Nevro, Dr. Caraway was the CEO of The Center for Pain Relief, Tri-State, L.L.C., in partnership with St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Caraway has maintained an active medical practice for over 20 years and has held leadership positions in the North American Neuromodulation and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. As a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of chronic pain, he has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally in the field of Interventional Pain Medicine and authored numerous publications in this field. Dr. Caraway received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia School of Engineering, an MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He also received post-graduate training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management from the University of Virginia. Dr. Caraway is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Kashif Rashid , , , General Counsel

Kashif Rashid joined Nevro in 2017 and serves as General Counsel of the company. Mr. Rashid joins us with over 19 years of broad legal experience in medical devices, healthcare and private law practice. Mr. Rashid recently served as Deputy General Counsel at St. Jude Medical, a medical device company, where he had responsibility for various aspects of the legal function, including commercial, business development and corporate governance and securities. Following the acquisition of St. Jude Medical by Abbott, Mr. Rashid moved to Atara Biotherapeutics, a bay-area biotech focused on T-cell immunotherapy, as Vice President, Legal. Prior to St. Jude Medical, Mr. Rashid served in roles of increasing responsibility at General Electric's Healthcare business, Loews Corporation and Kaye Scholer, LLP. Mr. Rashid received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the George Washington University and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.

Niamh Pellegrini , , , Chief Commercial Officer

Niamh Pellegrini is a proven commercial leader with 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Nevro, Ms. Pellegrini was Vice President of Global Commercial Operations for Abbott Vascular, where she was responsible for driving approximately $3B in revenue. Prior to Abbott, Ms. Pellegrini served as CEO and President at Autonomic Technologies, Inc., where she led a turnaround of its European commercial business and drove U.S. market access. Previously, Ms. Pellegrini was President, North America at Thoratec Corporation, where she helped return the company to growth prior to its acquisition. Prior to joining Thoratec Corporation, Ms. Pellegrini served in progressively responsible global business development, strategy and commercial roles at Johnson & Johnson. Niamh Pellegrini graduated from Santa Clara University with an M.B.A and a B.S. in finance.

Lori Ciano , , , Chief Human Resources Officer

Lori Ciano joined Nevro in June of 2019 and serves as Chief Human Resources Officer. Ms Ciano brings more than 15 years of experience as a senior human resources leader in both the life sciences and technology industries. Prior to joining Nevro, Ms. Ciano was Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Dermira, a Menlo Park-based biotechnology company. Prior to Dermira, Lori served as a consultant specializing in coaching and counsel around talent acquisition and management, compensation and benefits, and culture to executive and HR teams. Previously, she served as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Human Resources Officer at Thoratec Corporation. Ms. Ciano has also led HR organizations at Conceptus, Affymetrix, and Novellus Systems. She began her career at Varian where she served in marketing and business development roles. Lori Ciano earned an M.S. in psychology from JFK University, an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University, and a B.S. in marketing from San José State University.

Michael Carter , , , Vice President, Global Sales

Michael Carter joined Nevro in 2019, and serves as Vice President of Global Sales. Prior to Nevro, Mr. Carter held several commercial and general management leadership positions at Stryker, including Vice President / General Manager for Stryker Spine from 2017 to 2018, Vice President/General Manager for Stryker Joint Replacement from 2012 to 2017, Vice President/General Manager for Stryker OtisMed from 2012 to 2014, and Vice President Sales & Marketing for the Craniomaxillofacial division from 2009 to 2012. From 2000 to 2009, Mr. Carter held roles of increasing responsibility in sales in the Craniomaxillofacial division. Mr. Carter received his BS from the US Military Academy at West Point and served in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer.

Richard B. Carter , , , Vice President, Finance, Corporate Controller

Richard B. Carter joined Nevro in 2014 and serves as Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller of the company. He has held roles of increasing responsibility in finance and accounting since joining Nevro as Corporate Controller in September 2014. From October 2013 to October 2014, Mr. Carter served as Corporate Controller at ClearEdge Power, Inc., a privately held fuel cell manufacturing company. From December 2011 to October 2013, Mr. Carter served as the Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller at Kovio, Inc., a privately held electronic device manufacturing company. From March 2007 to December 2011, Mr. Carter served as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller at MiaSolé, a thin-film solar panel manufacturer. Previously, Mr. Carter served as the Corporate Controller at PortalPlayer, Inc. and Transmeta Corporation, both publicly traded fabless semiconductor companies. Mr. Carter received a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, Chico. Mr. Carter is a Certified Public Accountant and began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young, LLP.

Christofer Christoforou , , , Vice President, Research and Development

Christofer Christoforou joined Nevro in 2016 and serves as Vice President, R&D. Prior to joining Nevro, Mr. Christoforou served as Vice President, Quality Engineering at Thoratec Corporation, a medical device company where he oversaw the operational, design and supplier quality engineering functions. From October 1999 to December 2014, Mr. Christoforou served in several leadership positions of increasing levels of responsibility at Thoratec Corporation. From April 1993 to October 1999, Mr. Christoforou served as a Manager of Engineering and various Engineering positions for United States Surgical Corporation, a producer of tools for use in surgery. Mr. Christoforou received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a MS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.

Juliet Cunningham , , , Vice President, Investor Relations

Juliet Cunningham joined Nevro in 2019 and serves as Vice President, Investor Relations. Ms. Cunningham brings two decades of healthcare and technology investor relations experience, most recently as Vice President, Investor Relations at point-of-care diagnostics leader Alere. Prior to Alere, Ms. Cunningham led investor relations and corporate communications at Lytx, Mitek and Novatel Wireless. Ms. Cunningham began her investor relations career at QUALCOMM, where she held positions of increasing responsibility during a decade of the company’s rapid growth. As Senior Vice President, Ms. Cunningham developed and executed global communications programs to target and manage relationships with institutional investors, equity analysts and financial media. Ms. Cunningham holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix/Pepperdine University and completed her investor relations certification at the University of Michigan.

Donald A. Middlebrook , , , Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory and Quality

Donald Middlebrook joined Nevro in January 2020 and has over 30 years of leadership experience gaining global regulatory approvals, managing significant risk clinical trials and overseeing multi-site quality assurance/compliance programs for complex Class II and III medical device companies. He served most recently as a Regulatory and Clinical Affairs Consultant for St. Jude Medical following their acquisition of Thoratec Corporation in October 2015 and then for Abbott from January 2017 when the company acquired St. Jude Medical. Prior to this, Mr. Middlebrook served as Vice President of Corporate Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Thoratec. In the span of 19 years, he was responsible for worldwide regulatory approvals, leading numerous groundbreaking clinical trials and overseeing the company’s quality system activities. Before joining Thoratec, Mr. Middlebrook was Senior Director, Global Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for Chiron Vision, involved in the manufacturing of ophthalmic surgical devices. Mr. Middlebrook spent 15 years with Baxter International in several progressing positions including Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Cardiovascular Group (now known as Edwards Lifesciences). Mr. Middlebrook previously served as President and Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) Board of Directors, was elected as a RAPS Fellow and has continued to serve on several important committees for this society. Donald Middlebrook received a B.S. in Biology from California State University, Fullerton.

Patrick Schmitz , , , Vice President, Operations

Patrick Schmitz joined Nevro in 2016 and serves as Vice President, Operations. Prior to joining Nevro and since July 2005, Mr. Schmitz served as Vice President, Operations at Thoratec Corporation, a medical device company where he oversaw all domestic and international operations. From March 2003 to July 2005, Mr. Schmitz served as Vice President, North American Operations at GN ReSound, a medical device company. Mr. Schmitz also held several leadership positions in increasing levels of responsibility at St. Jude from March 1993 through March 2003. Mr. Schmitz holds a BS in Industrial Technology from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Claire Smith , , , Vice President, Therapy Optimization

Claire Smith joined Nevro in 2011 and serves as the Vice President of Therapy Optimization. Ms. Smith has held roles of increasing responsibility in Sales, Sales Leadership, Strategic Education and Therapy Optimization across the United States, Europe and Australia since joining Nevro. Prior to joining Nevro, Ms. Smith served as a UK Sales Specialist for ApaTech Ltd, a medical device company manufacturing and supplying a synthetic bone graft, where she successfully launched Actifuse into a previously unserved area of the UK. Prior to ApaTech, Ms. Smith held Sales roles for Janseen Cilag, a Johnson & Johnson Company, in the Pain and Psychiatry portfolios along with GlaxoSmithKline in a variety of pharmaceutical markets. Ms. Smith holds an B.Sc. (Hons) in Sports Therapy from the University College Chichester, UK.

Neeraj Teotia , , , Vice President, Marketing

Neeraj Teotia joined Nevro in 2014, and serves as Vice President of Marketing. He has held roles of increasing responsibility in marketing since joining Nevro as Director, Marketing. Prior to joining Nevro, Mr. Teotia served as a Director, New Business Development in the Global Surgery Group at Johnson & Johnson where he was responsible for assessing various licensing and acquisition opportunities. Prior to his role in New Business Development, Mr. Teotia worked in various Marketing, Licensing & Acquisitions and Research & Development roles within the medical device group at Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Teotia received a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
